Hickey believes that Take-Two’s 2011 fiscal year, which runs from April 1, 2011, until March 31, 2012, will feature two major game highlights: Max Payne 3 and L.A. Noire. He thinks those two games will lead a software lineup–which may also include the long-delayed Duke Nukem Forever–that can make the company profitable in a year without a GTA or a Red Dead game.

When GTA V does come out, “likely” in Take-Two’s fiscal 2012 (April 2012-March 2013), Hickey believes it will be yet another blockbuster, selling upward of 16 million copies and generating over $750 million by itself. He predicts that year will also see the release of BioShock Infinite, which he estimates will sell over 4 million copies and $182 million in sales.

One major reason for the high sales expectations is the increased combined PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 installed based in the US, which he believes will be 41 million units by the end of calendar year 2010. That compares to just 14 million in April 2008, when Grand Theft Auto IV originally came out.

As for the next Grand Theft Auto game – Feder said they are not ready to talk yet.

“Unfortunately, we’ve said everything we’re going to say about Grand Theft Auto, I appreciate everyone’s concern and interest as to when the game is coming out,” he said. “We’re not prepared to announce it today, but when we are, we’ll let you know.”

The huge success of Red Dead Redemption was also mentioned along with the belief  that in the digital content space DLC not only extends the life of its products but also bridges gaps between releases and keeps the brand fresh in gamers’ mind. Luckily the upcoming title L.A. Noire was also mentioned. Feder said that L.A. Noire: “has got technology and gameplay that isn’t available anywhere else“. So that’s definitely something to keep being excited about!

I have already said this out in public and I’ll say it again; we’re waiting to get an official announcement of the next Grand Theft Auto game, because only then the the website will really kick off. Once an announcement is made, we will:

• Change the website name & main domain (unless it really will be called GTA V)

• Get a brand new and shiny design (which also depends a lot on the announcement. We need to know what theme to follow, colors to use and so on).

• Make some changes around the content part of the website (the rumors & speculations will be put in an archive and a lot more categories will be made for the latest announcements regarding the game. We’ll also have several different pages set up for stuff like screenshots, videos, trailers, fan art, game info.. etc.)

• The forum will face a grand re-organization in the GTA V sections (basically the sections will expand a lot more).

• All the little things like logos, promotional videos and banners will be changed.

• We might have to do some changes regarding our Twitter page, Facebook page, FriendFeed page and YouTube channel (if the game won’t be named GTA V).

• Gather up more trusted users to help us around the site, publish news and watch over the forum (that, of course, will take time. Trust needs to be earned. )

And that’s all I can really lay out right now, but it’s possible more changes will occur. So remember – we’re still here, waiting for news just like everyone else and waiting for the moment to set this site on a whole new level!

Not a bad guess, I have to say. Let’s see where this leads us.

This makes me think that an official announcement is right around the corner (if this isn’t just a hoax pulled off by the Swedish retailer), so keep your eyes wide open and stick around for more info… it’s about time an announcement is made.

VG247.com posted a dialogue (written by Patrick Garratt) where it’s said that GTA V is set in Hollywood (in the GTA world – Vinewood). It’s very difficult to understand what exactly does the dialogue mean or who the two people taking part in it is, so your guess is as good as mine. The sudden appearance of this has obviously had some impact in the GTA world (or at least the part that regularly follows rumors), but Rockstar officials have said nothing so far regarding this. However, once there are more news on this – we’ll be sure to update you, so stick around!

Part of the dialogue:

“It’s GTA V.”
“About time.”
“It’s not easy.”
“I know. Did you get the setting?”
“Yeah, I did.”
“And?”
“It’s set in Hollywood.”
“OK.”

How legit and trustworthy this really is – not a clue. Personally I’d say it’s just a made up conversation to get the GTA rumor world shaking in hype once again, but honestly the idea of GTA V set in Hollywood seems unlikely – the area is much too small for it to be set there. A re-made Los Santos – maybe, but just the Hollywood part… I don’t think so. But hey, that’s just me!

UPDATE: According to IGN Rockstar have refused to comment on the rumor.

We’ll just name a few examples here that I have personally observed during my experience.

1. Everything seems to have been brightened up significantly. This is exactly what happened between GTA III and Vice City.
2. Clubs are back. There were no actual clubs in GTA III, but there were in the following Vice City.
3. Many of the missions in BoGT reference Vice City in their dialogue.
4. Vice City FM was made a ratio station in BoGT.

Save this one under the rumor mill. Overheard a Rockstar game tester talking about playing Rockstar games. After discussing how much time RDR has been taking up, he mentioned the fact that he’s testing GTAV. Now he’s either blowing smoke up the collective ass or he’s telling the truth and forgot about his NDA. He DID have a Rockstar badge on but I won’t reveal his name.
