I’m not entirely sure even how to classify this piece of news/rumors. It got me so confused after reading the whole dialogue that I’m not even sure what to think of the whole thing.
VG247.com posted a dialogue (written by Patrick Garratt) where it’s said that GTA V is set in Hollywood (in the GTA world – Vinewood). It’s very difficult to understand what exactly does the dialogue mean or who the two people taking part in it is, so your guess is as good as mine. The sudden appearance of this has obviously had some impact in the GTA world (or at least the part that regularly follows rumors), but Rockstar officials have said nothing so far regarding this. However, once there are more news on this – we’ll be sure to update you, so stick around!
Part of the dialogue:
“It’s GTA V.”
“About time.”
“It’s not easy.”
“I know. Did you get the setting?”
“Yeah, I did.”
“And?”
“It’s set in Hollywood.”
“OK.”
How legit and trustworthy this really is – not a clue. Personally I’d say it’s just a made up conversation to get the GTA rumor world shaking in hype once again, but honestly the idea of GTA V set in Hollywood seems unlikely – the area is much too small for it to be set there. A re-made Los Santos – maybe, but just the Hollywood part… I don’t think so. But hey, that’s just me!
UPDATE: According to IGN Rockstar have refused to comment on the rumor.

6 GTA’s in Liberty City (GTA 3, GTA Liberty City Stories, GTA IV, GTA Chinatown Wars, GTA TLAD, and GTA BOGT)
2 GTA’s in Vice City (GTA Vice City, GTA Vice City Stories)
2 In london (London 1969, and 1961)
and only 1 in Las Venturas, San Fiero, and Los Santos
Maybe GTA V will be in those Three places We had enough Liberty City GTAs, Missions in Vice City are not that great, and London is not that cool.
You might think that i forgot GTA 1, GTA 2, And GTA Advance.
I didn’t mension them because when i searched for there cities, I didn’t find there cities.
I think GTA in San Andreas would be great, Because of the game qualities we have now, it’ll be awesome
in my opinion GTA San Andreas was the best of the series so far. best map, best story.
i would another game with the San Andreas map with the PS3 graphics.

San andraes was the best because of the freedom and many aidplains and vehicles. a number 2 would be awesome! Because it seemed like every time u turned the game on you were entering a whole nother world..

But Still, There has only been ONE GTA in 3D which is situated in The three most Famous Cities of the San Andreas Fault Los Angeles (Los Santos), San Fiero (San Francisco), and Las Vegas (Las Venturas).

Well, personally I’d say – sure, there’s a possibility San Andreas might be re-made, but even now (after considering what you said and re-going through numerous of hints in GTA IV leading to VC) I’m leaning to think that we’ll see a brand new city.
I really hope not. Ive been a GTA fan since about 3rd grade(right around GTA III) And from who ive also talked to about it I, along with many more people dont want any new terrain. We want to roam our old stomping grounds(preferably San Andreas) But an updated Vice City would certainly be welcome. The least we can say is thaqt Rockstar promised no more Liberty City, at least for now
The way I see it, either we will see an entirely new city and if not, then it only makes sense that the game will return to vice city. Me personally I couldn’t care less gta have never disappointed and I doubt that they will start now.
i’m pretty sure that the next GTA will be in present day (sort of like gta iv)
so i doubt they’ll do a san andreas where everyones jerkin with colored skinny jeans…xD

Not sure who are the people talking. How reliable is VG247.com? Well, let’s just say this isn’t the first time they pull off something like this.
A new city?
What do you think it will be, Rockstar tried to put the Most famous cities in the USA. Miami, New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Los Angeles. I think they already made games for them, I really don’t think they’ll make a new city. VineWood seems nice.
There’s still plenty of cities to pick for the game. Besides, a lot of people are waiting to see something completely brand new. I don’t have anything against having a re-made SA or VC, but I feel like I wanna see something totally new.

I really do think SA will be put into mind for R*. The reason being is because I mainly see Positive comments for SA. And now to think the graphics are way much better than they were in 2004 when SA was published. I’d like to think all 3 city’s will be included and plus a brand new city in, but I can’t see that happening myself but time will tell !

have you ever see the game just couse 2? thats even bigger than when you would put all 3 citys together so it would be possible and oterwise maybe to dvd’s can be maid too you know
They did the West Coast, East Coast, Down South and now they should do Mid-West up north. Chicago or Detroit would be crazy.
I don’t know, i cant see a lot of other cities topping the ones already done, maybe set in the midwest i think would be great..like minneapolis/st.paul MN thats like two big cities then you could have a rural area around it like san andreas…i could deal with that
I would like to see it back in SA. Like everyone else has said, with the graphics we have now, it would look amazing. But id also like to see it up here in Seattle or Spokane. That would be awesome also. But if you think sbout it, there pretty small so maybe add the country aspect to it also. But who knows! Cant wait for more info.
Personally, I would love to see a GTA take on Washington DC, the city with the craziest traffic patterns in America, and plenty of storyline options.
Of course, the idea of publishing a game where players are roaming the Capital firing off rocket launchers might be more controversy than even Rockstar can handle.
